Every business has a beginning, but Detaily’s story isn’t your typical “start-up in a garage” tale. It began with two founders who cared way too much about clean cars and weren’t afraid to chase something bigger. What started as a side hustle quickly turned into a multi-city detailing service built on skill, consistency, and a whole lot of trial and error.
In this story, we take you through how Detaily grew from a small local operation into a polished, tech-driven detailing service across Auburn, Opelika, Santa Rosa Beach, and now Fort Walton Beach. From training new detailers, to learning advanced techniques, to creating their own booking app, this is the journey that shaped Detaily into the company it is today.
How It All Started
Detaily began before the name existed. Jones, one of the founders, was the kind of person who couldn't stand seeing a dirty car. What started as washing his own vehicle turned into helphing friends, then neighbors, then anyone who asked. He spent hours looking for new techniques, testing products, and perfecting the small details most people overlooked. the more he learned, the more he realized there was potential here. What began as a simple passion, quickly grew into a steady stream of clients.
After a few strong years in business, one of our founders, Carson, moved to Auburn for college. He had gone to high school in Santa Rosa Beach and shared the same obsession for clean cars as Jones. Once he made the move, he began helping Jones with details on the side, which quickly evolved into conversations about growing Detaily into something bigger.
Those conversations turned into action. Soon, they weren’t just detailing for friends. They were servicing the entire Auburn and Opelika area and building the groundwork for a real company.
Training the Team
As Detaily grew, so did the need for more detailers. But Jones and Carson refused to compromise on quality. Every new detailer went through the same process:
Hands-on trainingLearning step-by-step paint correction, interior restoration, trim rejuvenation, and ceramic coating application.
Mastering technique through repetition
This wasn’t “watch once and do it.” The founders drilled each method until every team member could deliver the same results.
Finding the perfect products
They tested everything: soaps, sealants, brushes, compounds, polishes, and coatings. Through trial and error, they created a product lineup that delivered consistent, professional results for every vehicle.
This is the backbone of Detaily’s service quality today.
Building the Detaily App
While the team sharpened their skills, Jones and Carson built something almost unheard of in the detailing world: their own booking app.
They designed and coded it themselves, shaping it around one goal: make booking and comparing detailing packages as easy as ordering food.
The app lets customers:
• Compare packages
• Read clear descriptions
• Choose add-ons
• Pick a time
• Book instantly
That simplicity is one of the biggest reasons Detaily stands out. Traditional detailers rely on calls, texts, and confusion. Detaily relies on clarity.
Expanding to Santa Rosa Beach and 30-A
While Auburn was booming, Detaily soft-launched with one detailer in the Santa Rosa Beach and 30-A area. It took off instantly. Word spread quickly. Locals recognized the difference in convenience and quality, and steady growth followed.
Fort Walton Beach: The New Expansion
The most recent addition is Fort Walton Beach. The team is actively preparing to build another strong market there, following the same formula that worked everywhere else:
• Train detailers thoroughly
• Maintain elite service quality
• Expand slowly and intentionally
• Lean on the convenience of the app
Fort Walton Beach is already gaining traction, and the team is gearing up to ramp operations even more.
Looking Ahead
Detaily’s growth has always been simple:
Work hard.
Stay consistent.
Keep improving.
Deliver results customers actually notice.
That formula brought them from a two-person passion project to a multi-city operation. And they’re far from finished.
